Build this stage Stage 1 methodology

The F45 is BMW's 2-series Active Tourer — the front-wheel-drive (or xDrive) family hatch BMW built on its UKL platform, sold 2014 to 2021 with the B48 turbo-four. F45 tuning is one of the thinner corners of our catalog: the Active Tourer was never a tuner-target body style, the UKL platform sits outside the rear-drive 2/3/4 family the volume work centers on, and the parts depth here is genuinely thin compared to the F22 coupe.

What we ship for the F45: BM3 Stage 1 calibration on the B48 (the engine itself is the same family we tune in the F22/F30/F32), and the supporting hardware that crosses over from the broader B48 catalog where the transverse engine bay allows it.

Stock peak is 228 hp in the 225i Active Tourer (with the higher-output overboost map). Stage 1 picks up real gains on factory hardware.

Below: every part we ship that fits the F45. The Active Tourer is a small chapter of the B48 story — if you've got one and want a tune, the B48 underneath responds the same way it does in every other chassis it powers.

ANSWERED

Before you tune.

Will my dealer flag the tune at service?

The bootmod3 flash is non-destructive and reversible. Revert to stock before a dealer appointment and the ECU is back to factory in a few minutes; re-flash after service. We document the revert step in writing so the next person opening your file knows what's there.

Is it safe for the engine?

Every tune we ship has been datalogged on the car it was written for. We look at knock counts, fuel trims, boost behavior, and intake temps before we sign off. If the numbers don't sit right, we revise. That review and the revision policy are built into what the tune costs.

How long until I have a working tune?

Most calibrations turn around in a few days. We log, review, and revise before anything ships — we would rather get it right than get it out fast.

Can I go back to stock?

Yes. bootmod3 supports a stock revert that returns the ECU to factory calibration in under five minutes. The flash is non-destructive — nothing in the BMW DME is permanently modified. Most owners revert before trade-in.
