Esse Werks Differential Ring Gear Bolt Kit — BMW/MINI F
Esse Werks differential ring gear bolt kit, manufactured by ARP to ARP2000 spec, for the BMW/MINI transverse-platform differential. Replaces the OEM torque-to-yield bolts BMW specifies for one-time use only — bolts that are not safe to reuse on reassembly.
Why TTY bolts fail at diff rebuilds
The OEM ring gear bolts are torque-to-yield by design. They're stretched past their elastic limit on initial torque-down, which creates even clamping force across the ring gear face but consumes the bolt's ability to stretch a second time. Reuse them on an LSD install or a service teardown and they either lose clamp force — gear face slips, hammer wear starts on the ring — or they break in the head during the second torque application. BMW's service manual is explicit: replace TTY bolts on every reassembly. ARP2000 is the more durable answer.
What ARP2000 brings
- Tensile strength ~220,000 psi — well above the OEM TTY bolt's working range
- Reusable — proper torque-to-spec with ARP's ULTRA-TORQUE lubricant; no stretch-to-yield needed
- Holds clamp under thermal cycling — track-temperature differential rebuilds stay clamped where OEM bolts have been observed to back off
- Same thread pitch and head geometry as the OEM bolt — no tooling changes at install
What's in the kit
- 10 × ARP2000 ring gear / diff cover bolts, M10×1.0 thread
- ARP ULTRA-TORQUE assembly lubricant
- Torque sequence and spec sheet
Fitment
BMW and MINI transverse-platform differential — found across the F-series UKL2 chassis lineup:
- MINI F-series — F54 Clubman, F55, F56, F57, F60 Countryman
- BMW F-series — F39 X2, F45 / F46 2-series Active & Gran Tourer (EU), F48 X1
Confirm OEM bolt part numbers against your specific differential before ordering. BMW issued running revisions to the OEM TTY bolts mid-platform. This ARP2000 kit covers both revisions. If you're on a G-chassis (longitudinal RWD / xDrive) BMW with a different differential casting, this kit does not fit — contact sales@essewerks.com and we'll source the right ARP kit for your application.
Install
0.5 hrs assuming the differential is already out of the car — LSD install, gear set change, service teardown. Use the included ARP ULTRA-TORQUE lubricant on threads and under the bolt head, follow ARP's torque sequence, torque in three passes per the included spec sheet.
What this kit does not include
Bolts only. A complete diff reassembly typically also requires pinion crush sleeve, pinion seal, axle seals, and ring-gear-to-carrier shims — all sourced separately. Esse Werks can quote the full hardware list at intake.
