Build this stage Stage 1 methodology

The F01 is BMW's fifth-generation 7 Series sedan — sold 2009 to 2015 with the N63 twin-turbo V8 in the 750i. F01 tuning at EW runs on that N63 directly. This is a full-size luxury car, so what owners are usually after is effortless mid-range and a torque delivery that feels stronger off-idle, not a track number.

What we ship for the F01 is a BM3-native custom calibration on the N63, built from datalogs on your specific car rather than a map off a shelf. Stage 1 is calibration-only — no supporting hardware required — and it's where most owners start. Stage 2 adds catless downpipes (on the N63, the charge pipe and intercooler are not required the way they are on the inline-six cars). Stage 3 goes to upgraded turbochargers on our Phantom V8 line, with E-blend fuel where it applies.

Factory output on the 750i is 400 hp and 450 lb-ft. We don't publish a peak figure for our calibration on this chassis — we tune to what your car actually does in fuel trims, timing, knock, and load, and we won't post a dyno number we can't reproduce.

Below: every part and tune we ship for the F01. If you're running a 750i and want the N63 to pull the way a full-size sedan should, this is the page.

ANSWERED

Before you tune.

Will my dealer flag the tune at service?

The bootmod3 flash is non-destructive and reversible. Revert to stock before a dealer appointment and the ECU is back to factory in a few minutes; re-flash after service. We document the revert step in writing so the next person opening your file knows what's there.

Is it safe for the engine?

Every tune we ship has been datalogged on the car it was written for. We look at knock counts, fuel trims, boost behavior, and intake temps before we sign off. If the numbers don't sit right, we revise. That review and the revision policy are built into what the tune costs.

How long until I have a working tune?

Most calibrations turn around in a few days. We log, review, and revise before anything ships — we would rather get it right than get it out fast.

Can I go back to stock?

Yes. bootmod3 supports a stock revert that returns the ECU to factory calibration in under five minutes. The flash is non-destructive — nothing in the BMW DME is permanently modified. Most owners revert before trade-in.
