Active Autowerke equal-length mid-pipe for the S55 — F80 M3, F82/F83 M4. The S55's factory down-pipe lengths differ between banks by nearly a foot and a half, spacing the exhaust pulses unevenly — the root of the rasp. This corrects it.

The design

A patented equal-length design (US 11,248,511; EU/UK 3,882,441) that matches both banks for a smooth, cohesive straight-six tone. This is the Gen 2 (it replaced the original, no longer made) with resonators that strip the rasp and cut the 2,000-rpm drone. 304 stainless, and it includes Active Autowerke's F-brace to restore tunnel rigidity once the factory mid-section is out.

Where it fits

Sits between the S55 downpipes and the rear exhaust. Off-road / race use only.

BMW S55 — F80 M3, F82 M4, F83 M4 Convertible. (F87 M2 Competition uses a separate mid-pipe.) Confirm your chassis in the selector.

Active Autowerke has been building hardware for BMW for a long time, and that history shows in supercharger systems and exhausts that are engineered to a specific chassis rather than adapted to it. We carry their hardware because the depth of platform knowledge behind it tends to mean the kit fits and the supporting components are accounted for. On the naturally-aspirated platforms where a supercharger is the clean route to a real power increase, this is established, proven hardware. We reach for it when a customer wants a forced-induction path with a long track record behind it.
